Addy
Today Addy came running to me and said enthusiastically, "mom, mom there's a giant in our house."
I said, "A giant? Really? Where?"
Addy: "Follow me, I'll show you."
She then took my hand and led me to where we keep the laundry and pointed at the large pile. "There it is."
The other night she was telling us the story of the Nativity. She said, "And Mary and Joseph came, and there was no room for them in the Z." She then looked at me inquisitively, "was it the Z, or the N?"
We got a good laugh.

Hi, I'm back
Hey, I know I haven't posted for a really long time. Craig has done a great job blogging, this is how he keeps his journal. Way to go Craig! I'm just a procrastinator with everything, but finally--here's a post!
Some big events in the last 2 months:
1. Craig finished his traveling rotations!! We're so happy to have him back.
Daddy's home!!
2. We went to Disneyland to celebrate with Craig's family mid-November

The wonderful thing about Tiggers--is that you get to stand in long lines to take pictures with him.
3. Thanksgiving in Cedar City
4. Hope is now 6 months old! Time is slipping away. She is so sweet. She squirmed herself out of her bumbo twice today. She says, "da-da-da-da," and "na-na-na-na." These must be the people she loves most. We're working on "ma-ma."
5. Addy is brilliant and funny and sweet and CrEaTiVe. She's always making Craig and I things. Today she taped all sorts of knick knacks to a dollar bill (a stick of gum, an angel pendant, chuck-e-cheese coins, a cupcake candle) and presented it to Craig. Yesterday when she set the table, she made it look like a reindeer...with eyelashes.
6. We moved back to Phoenix after being away for 5 months. We had a great time staying with my family in St. George. We miss them so much! They took great care of us--thanks fam, I love you!

Triathlon
Last weekend was full of laughter and stupidity.
I have been training for a sprint triathlon (400 m swim, 10 mile bike, 3 mile run). I didn't have a bike in Salt Lake City, so I trained on a stationary bike. The night before the race I went to a certain Doctors home (who shall remain un-named, for fear that a malpractice attorney would find out). He let me borrow his road bike. It was a beautiful bike, but it had clip in shoes. I had never been on a bike with clips, so I went for my maiden voyage to test it out.
The foreshadowing probably gives away the surprise. As I drove past his house I yelled to Aubree and the owner: "I'm locked and loaded!" I came to a stop and I began to tip to my left, but my left foot was stuck in! I tipped right over like a great fat sequoia tree falling down. While I was on the ground with my big black puffy coat, I heard Dr. Owner yell: "You looked like a retard!" I felt like one.
However as I went to get up, I realized my arm didn't work right and I said, "I think I dislocated my shoulder." Sure enough when I took my shirt off (easy ladies), it was dislocated. Greg, I mean... Dr. Owner said he thinks he knows how to fix it. To be sure, we checked on YouTube and found this:
We watched the video and looked at eachother: "yah, we can do that." So we went in on his living room and he reduced the shoulder. He is normally a nutcracker, but now we can say he's a shoulder cracker. He's a handy guy to have around. I'm glad he was there.
The next morning my shoulder was sore, so Aubree did the swimming part, and I biked and swam. Aubree ended up doing the whole thing! She's incredible!

So it has been a crazy 90 days! I was in St. George, Philadelphia, Detroit, Houston, and Salt Lake City. It is finally nice to be home. It's finally nice to be with Aubree and the girls. I have been to 28 states. Including flying for interviews, flying for the marathon, and flying in for Addy's birthday, I have traveled about 18,000 miles. The length of Earth's equator is about 24,901.5 miles. I have spent a lot of time in airports. Many times I would take a reality check and wonder "what city am I in?" The answer to that question sometimes took five to ten seconds.
It's been quite the ride and what an experience.
Aubree is a trooper. She is an amazing woman. She has been a single mom for a long time and has been very supportive. She deserves accolades. As I look back, I take a deep breath and say: "glad that's over."
Happy Halloween
So it's been a while since we've written in our public family journal. We had a great Halloween. I (Craig) was in Salt Lake City at the time, so I ran down to St. George for the weekend. Addy was Elpheba and Hope was Glinda or Gaalinda from the musical Wicked. I was the scarecrow from Batman Begins, and Aubree was Charlie Chaplin (can't find a picture of Aubree).
We went up to our cabin on Cedar mountain for our party. Dayna set up a spook alley on her nature trail, and we got a good scare from the kids.

Hope's milestones
Hope is nearly 4 1/2 months old. I can't believe how time has gone by. She is so cute! We are so happy to have her.
-She smiles all the time now
-Occasionally she laughs out loud. Things she's laughed at so far: my dad blowing through a pipe, Addy talking and making funny faces at her, her froggy toy, and a balloon
-She eats rice cereal, and loves it! (She has actually tasted many things I'm a little ashamed to admit, but she loves yellow peppers just like her sister and daddy)
-She sucks her fingers. She usually tries to get her whole fist in her mouth which is frustrating, but when she gets 2-3 fingers in there, she's happy!
-She can hold her bottle in her mouth.
-She can stay sitting up for a good 10 seconds leaning way forward, her face on the ground keeps her a little more balanced:)
Craig accidentally took the camera back to Detroit with him when he left, so he FedEx shipped it for $20.00 and this was the only picture I took until the next time Craig came. We think it was worth it!

The MaRaThOn!! And Laursie's Birthday!!
The marathon this year was a success. I finished and did it 10 minutes faster than my goal time. The rain put a bit of a "damper" on things, but it was a nice change from previous years. It's usually sunny and hot by the end. It was also great because I got to run the first 15 miles with Craig. It was the 2nd trip he made to see us and running together is time well spent. He hit a bit of a wall and didn't feel great, but he finished with a PR. I'm proud of him and think he did great! He had to train around grueling surgical schedules in 3 different cities by his lonesome.
Besides Craig and I, this year my mom ran (forever faithful), Dallin (Mr. McSpeedy--finished at :315!), Amber (my motivation & super running partner:), Rachel (sister in-law, runner through adversity, awesome 1st marathon!!), Jason (GrEaT 1st timer), Liisa (never gives up, she's amazing), Burk and Tanner, Kay, April and Catherine (Phoenix friends), Dr. Taylor and Parkinson, TJ & Adrianne, Mark & Merrilyn, Prentiss, Brooklyn and many others! Good job everyone!
I was so excited to see some personal fans. My dad and Addy braved the weather to watch and cheer. I was so happy to see them, as you can see!

We went from Princess straight to Jonas Brothers. It wasn't a smooth transition. The only thing she really wanted was this Jonas Brothers Cake.
We went to Craig's parents cabin the evening of Addy's birthday to dedicate the cabin and party. Almost the whole massive family was there, it was great!
It was so good to have Craig here for the weekend. It was the first time Addy had seen him since July, it was a happy reunion!

Houston Texas and Hurricane Ike
So I am now in Houston Texas. I came down here to work at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. I drove from Detroit, and I was able to stop in Dallas, and stay with Lonn and Teryl. We had a great time, I got to stay in Curtis' room, and we had french toast for breakfast.
I came into town the weekend after Hurricane Ike. It has been an interesting experience. I had to make sure I had plenty of gas, because there was a shortage. When I got here, I started to see the devastation. Signs, trees, street lights, everything and everybody was affected. Many people didn't have power.
I am staying with a great family. One of my companions, Jared Weatherhead was from Houston, and I am staying with a friend of his. They are the kindest people. They have warmly welcomed me into their home.
Saturday and Sunday, our stake, the Friendswood stake went down to Galveston as a relief effort. Galveston was hit the hardest.
We met as the stake center (above) to get our assignments. It was a beautiful sight, and a wonderful spirit as we sang "Come, Come ye saints." Sunday morning we even had a little sacrament service. The church was running on generators, and it was a regular command center. Piles and Piles of water, cleaning kits, hygiene kits, wheelbarrows, hammers, chainsaws, utility knives, shovels ect. The missionaries spent a few days gathering work orders from the neighborhoods, and we took care of members and nonmembers alike. I even got a sweet yellow T-shirt.
You can see the water line on some of these homes, and that green car had drifted onto this man's yard. You can imagine what happens to a fridge when you don't have power for 10 days, and your house is flooded. These refrigerators stank in a way that makes your nose hairs have nightmares. Mud in the houses that made every step like a slip and slide.
Most of what we did was tree removal and home emptying. It took very little time for the mold to set into the drywall, so we also helped people remove the affected drywall. You can see (above) the view from this womans porch and the inside of the home. Nice happy birthday eh? Clothes, dishes, furniture everywhere, ruined. We spent hours on this home only to realize that it may not be salvageable; but we did what we could. Every street was loaded with trees, washers, dryers, furniture, drywall. Who knows how long it will take to clean it all up.
So it was a humbling experience to go down there. I'm glad I went. I made some great friends in the friendswood first ward and we had an enjoyable time working together. I was so impressed with our crews work ethic and attitude. It was a pleasure to work with them.
Other than that I am enjoying Houston. It's an interesting place, there are restaurants everywhere. I have heard that there are more places to eat per capita than any other city in the U.S. Too bad I eat at the hospital every day.

New York and Detroit
Hello from Detroit City!
So I've been in Detroit for a week now. It's actually a pretty sweet place. The weather this time of year is nice. The ward I've been going to is full of great people; including Jenny and Scott Salmon who are out here doing residency. I just drove by a GM truck manufacturing plant. It was deserted. Although I don't know if it was just because of the Labor day weekend or if it was because the plant was shut down. I did a long run on Saturday at this sweet park. I didn't take any pictures, but here are a couple pics from the world wide web. It was a big loop around a sweet lake. There was even a sandy beach and a little water park on the shore. Tons of people were walking, running, and biking on the path. Here's a couple pics:
This weekend has been crazy. There is a festival called Arts, Eats, and Beats in Pontiac. Right outside my window bands start blasting from noon until 2 am. It is loud and obnoxious. I have included in the slide show a picture from my window.
While I was in Philly, I hopped on a train to New York City. It took about an hour and a half, and I was at Penn Station. I took my running clothes and did a long run in Central park. I love New York City. Saturday morning, the park was full of runners, bikers, ect. It also had a lot of ladies sunbathing. So yah, the "scenery" was really nice... and the park was nice too.

Hope's Blessing
For those of you unable to attend Hope's blessing, we wanted you to share with you what was said. Also, those of you that were in attendance, we wanted to give you an opportunity to know what was said. You see, there was a little mishap with the microphone--no one but those in the circle were able to hear it! It was frustrating at the time, but because of it, we think we got the whole blessing on paper. Craig asked everyone that was in the circle to write what they remembered, then Craig typed up what he remembered and compiled it all. If you would like a copy, email me and I will send it to you. I took these pictures of Hope just today. I was afraid she was going to grow out of her blessing dress that my mom crocheted during the 9 months of my pregnancy. So I squeezed her into it--it barley went on. Well, when it was time to take it off it wouldn't come. Needless to say, she spent the whole afternoon in her blessing dress. She took a nap, ate her dinner, got good and happy before the torturous event. It finally came off, the poor thing. She was a good sport, thanks Hope!

Washington D.C.
So this weekend I went down to Baltimore and Washington D.C. I Chadd and Kristen Kraus are house sitting a home in Baltimore, and I was able to stay with them. I am staying at their house in Philly. They are staying at a home in Baltimore. It kind of a crazy circle, but seems to be working out. I have a picture of the sweet colonial house. I spent some time in Baltimore with them, and hopped on the Metro down to D.C. to run along the Mall.
I saw a lot in D.C. The capital building and the White house were sweet. I saw some protesters, PETA, even a rally in the works in front of the capital building. I saw the Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln monuments. I saw the WWII and Vietnam memorial, but the most heartening was Arlington. It was a serene experience. I went to The Museum of Natural History.
In Baltimore, we had dinner and dessert in Little Italy. I had this Gelato dessert, and it was out of control good. Like Disneyland in the mouth (you know what I mean). In Baltimore this weekend, it was a comic book convention going on and all these freaks were dressed up like comics. It was almost like halloween.
Anyway, another good weekend, but dampened by the lack of my sweetheart and little girlers.
